Purging Agaric refers to a type of mushroom known scientifically as Amanita emetica. It is also commonly called “emetic russula” or “vomiting russula.” This mushroom is part of the Amanita genus, which includes several species known for their toxic properties. It originated in Brazil, but is now grown in China, Japan also.The Purging Agaric typically has a cap that is pale to reddish-brown in color, with white patches or spots. The stem is white and may have a bulbous base. Like many mushrooms in the Amanita genus, it has distinctive white gills underneath the cap.
