Overview
Picrorhiza kurroa, commonly known as Kutki, is a rare Himalayan medicinal herb traditionally used in Ayurveda for its powerful liver-supporting and detoxifying properties. It grows at high altitudes in India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The medicinal part of the plant is its root and rhizome. Kutki contains active compounds called iridoid glycosides, primarily picroside I, picroside II, and kutkoside, which are responsible for most of its therapeutic effects. Due to its strong bitter taste, it is classified in Ayurveda as a potent digestive and liver stimulant.
