Litsea glutinosa, commonly known as Indian laurel, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Lauraceae family. Litsea glutinosa is native to various regions of Asia, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and southern China. It typically grows in tropical and subtropical forests. It is a medium-sized evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 20 meters. The leaves are glossy, elliptical to oblong in shape, and emit a lemony fragrance when crushed. The tree produces small, greenish-yellow flowers that are arranged in clusters.Litsea glutinosa has several traditional and commercial uses. In traditional medicine, various parts of the plant, including the bark, leaves, and roots, are used to treat ailments such as fever, cough, skin diseases, and digestive issues. The essential oil extracted from the leaves is valued for its aromatic properties and is used in perfumery and aromatherapy.
