The gum produced from the date palm tree is commonly referred to as “date palm gum” or “date gum. The date palm tree (Phoenix dactylifera) is native to the Middle East and North Africa and is widely cultivated for its edible fruit, dates. The gum is obtained by making incisions in the trunk of the date palm tree, allowing the sap to ooze out.
